What can I say...

What is it about life? We smile when we don't want to. We answer questions even when our lips barely want to move. We look excited when our insides scream for some quiet. I hardly know what life wants out of me? I am not expecting life to give me anymore than it has given me. A caring family, lovable friends, and an intelligent mind. But there is a void inside my soul, which I can't quite understand. Man, they say, is a species that has always wanted more than he has. There is an old story that says that, when God asked man what he wanted, he said he wanted the sight of an eagle, the agility of a leopard, the strength of a lion, and the wise mind of an owl. So be it, God had said. But the animals knew what man actually acquired - the virtue of Greed! Why am I telling you this? Well, I feel the same want. Though its not materialistic, a want is a want, none the less. I want to know what it will take to fill the void inside my soul. I want to know where I am headed. I want to kn...

One In A Million!

In the year 2010, the Population of our Subcontinent may rise to a whooping 1,155,830 people! The growth for the year 2000-2010 will be 1.3%. In 2005, the population was 1,085,455. Out of which there were 558,881 Men and 526,575 Women. We can clearly see that there are lesser women than men, in our country. And the future will only see the population of women decrease even more. I am not saying this, but researchers, who after recording the number of female foetus homicides, have come to this conclusion, that there will two or more men for a woman. This gives us, the women, a great deal to choose from. "...the future looks bleak for coming generations of young males" - The Times of India, 31 Jul 2004. "...Valerie Hudson (Brigham Young University) and Andrea DenBoer (University of Kent), who argue that too many unmarried males in India and China pose potential security dangers for the planet" - The Times of India, 31 Jul 2004. I was very excited when I heard that ...

I am My Best Friend!

Vrooom....I take off on my kinetic Honda every time I feel low. I go window shopping, eat at a near by confectionery, walk around and maybe buy something small, like a lipstick. Soon I start feeling better. Has this ever happened to you? I'm sure it has. Have you had people tell you not to do something and you have this voice inside you that tells you to calm down, just listen to them and then walk away without saying anything? Yes there is this queer inner voice, that tells you its going to be OK, because you are what you are. Have you ever felt lonely? Desperate need to talk to someone, feel the love you need? Have you spent night crying yourself to sleep, just because to think no one loves you? Its a common problem that effects one and all, sometime or the other in life. We think so much about other people. What they say, what they think, what they feel, seems to effect us more than anything else in this world. A need to feel accepted by society. But why? End of the day, who is ...

26 Year Old RJ!

I will not say I am a 20 something girl. I am going to tell you I am 26. I don't go by the cliche that a woman must never reveal her age. Because I am proud of each and every year I spent on this earth. I am not going to say that I have struggled all my life and achieved what ever I have now with a lot of hard work. But I am definitely going to say that these 26 years of my life have shown me what life had to offer and where I could negotiate with life. It also made me realise that people no matter what they do are always insecure about themselves. I have learnt that when a person lives in the past his future becomes a dream which he thinks he cannot achieve. But the important thing is to live in the present. Because everything happens Now! I have had my share of hardships. I have had my heart broken more than once. I have seen my dreams come true and then dissolve like mist. I have seen love pass me by. I have learnt that nothing comes to us that easily. We need to work really har...

Can't Blame The Hormones!

Slam the door hard of their faces ! My head reels, the voice becomes louder and louder. Come on, do it. Slam the door . I resist the voice, my anger raising within me. I close my eyes, trying to think of something pleasant. I feel the anger abate slowly. Teenagers they say, feel surges of anger or any emotion strongly. They say that the Hormones that are at work during their age causes this to happen. They relate bad behaviour, eccentricity, bad sense of dressing and mostly everything they do, to this fact. In the seven years of my adolescent life, I have learnt that if you let your Hormones rule you, then you will never win your parents over. So I tried, real hard, to keep my strong overflowing emotions at bay. But no matter how hard I tried, they irrupted once in a while. Which was not so bad, considering that my peers let them run loose. Slowly, but steadily, I could control my out bursts of anger. That's when I realised I had it in me to control not only my emotions but my l...

Mutterings!

The smell of rain on mud, the pitter patter of rain on a tin roof, the small paper boats that children play with, the cool breeze that feels like feathers tickling you softly, the wetness of the raindrops on your face...these are precious moments in our life! When we feel tired, we want to feel the warmth of a bed or the company of a book or the pleasant view of the Ocean. There are times when we just want to BE and listen to our favourite songs, or play around with colours, or sit on a sea shore and let the waves lap our feet, asking us to relax. When things don't go as we planned, we feel frustrated, rejected and loose hope on all things. But many a times we forget the fact that we give up just before we arrive. We don't read the signs and we hurry past life. What makes life are the small moments of joy, like the toothless smile of a 70 yr old, the sudden gust of breeze that makes your umbrella fly, the light in the eyes of a child with a secret, and waking up to the chirping...

Journey!

What is it about life that one goes in search of? Is it love? Is it wholeness? Is it family? Or an un-ending sense of loneliness? When we arrive, we forget why we have made the journey. We wish we could go back to that safe place somewhere in the light, from where we were sent to learn about a mundane existence, called Life! But once we know that we can not go back home until we have learnt our lessons, we gear up to go ahead with Life. We may struggle at first in a world which is so alien to us. We may feel strange feelings with our new found senses. We touch, feel, taste, hear and see a world which has lost the meaning of its existence. Still we don't lose hope. With Faith in our hearts we try to bring about change. Forgetting that the only thing that is constant is Change! Then the Big Question hits us! "What am I here to do? Where am I heading?" We grovel in these unanswerable questions. This is when a little voice inside of us tells us that to find the answers we nee...

Look Into A Stranger's Eyes!

When we look into a stranger's eyes, we connect through a magical thread. The course of our life we live, maybe affected forever. Our entire being will begin to crave for their presence. We begin to feel a magical atmosphere all around us. Sometimes we may feel that our existence is at stake without their presence. Not knowing how these feelings have suddenly sprouted within us, we follow the magical feeling it exhuberates. This is when it all begins. The confusion so profound, that we are dazzed and dazzeled by its lustre! But without knowing our inner divine, neither can we live nor die. For our Spirit is confounded by the depths of human emotions. We are blinded by mundane things all around us. But when we look close enough we can see that, what we actually see, touch, feel, is not real. When this magical feeling comes over us, nothing else makes sense. It is then that we really beging to see the real world. It is then we realise that what is real is within us...our Soul! The sp...
